Default Warm Greetings from Indonesia

Hello all!!!

Just joined today and dropping by to say hello!

Hope to learn a lot about orchid from this forum. I'm new to orchid by the way. Just becoming serious in collecting orchid recently so my collection is fairly small. I started to take interest in these beautiful flower since a few years back but lack time and attention mostly cause of school. Since I'm done with school anyway, why not get a little serious hehehe.

My small collections include hybrid dendrobiums, phal. amabilis, Gram. scriptum, and a few Vanda seedlings. Hope to add some more species orchid within this year. In the wish list: Brassia orchid, Gram speciosum, Vanda hookeriana and Lycaste skinnerii. Saw one Brassia in orchid exhibition near Jakarta and IMO it's absolutely enchanting.

My first and oldest collection, been inhabiting my mango trees for over 10 years now:

My warmest regards to y'all!

Welcome aboard, Psyched. Love your 'wild' orchid in the tree. Jump right in, and above all, have fun.

Thanks guys for your warm welcome.

I've actually completed school for a long while now. Not staying in just one country afterwards, make me a little bit late in starting up my own collection.

Just taking care the orchids in my backyard from now, my mother bought it years ago but no such luck in making it flower. But looks like my treatment works. 3 buds from a single catt although noone in my family remember the last time it boomed.

Hopefully going to learn much from this forum. I'll post my orchid pictures when it blooms.

Hi, snow! Nice meeting you.

I live near Jakarta where it's always hot and humid. I feel fortunate that we have a lot orchid nursery around Java that can sell orchids for low price, including Bandung! Although hybrid orchid tends to be more expensive.

I bought my first paph javanicum in Bandung. I don't think it enjoys living in coastal area tho. Most of its roots have gone bad and I don't see any new roots growing even though the leaves still look great. Getting a bit desperate in take care of it.

I think I should be more considerate in buying paphs. Going to keep in mind not to buy highland paph. Maybe Paph praestans.
