Hi All, I am searching for a large plant of Brassia Nodosa. I'm sitting one at the present and am totally blown away by the night time fragrance of this "lady of the night". How aptly named. My friend doesn't remember where she bought it, possibly Orchid Mania in Myakka, FL, but I'd get one on line if I could find a really big one. I have a small mounted one that may not do it's thing in my lifetime. Any info would be appreciated.

After years of killing orchids up north I'm having a ball here in FL. Giving them lots of benign neglect, feeding them regularly and come January - May I will be rewarded with great variety and glory. I'm only here for 2+ years, but the orchids have thrived so far.

Advise greatfully accepted. Thank you,

Welcome DerbyDale. I don't have a source for the brassia that you are looking for, but hang in there. I'm sure that someone will come across your post who can steer you in the right direction. Very friendly group here, skilled at mining information, more than willing to share expertise and experience.

Welcome fellow Floridian! Nice to have you here!

I think you meant Brassovola nodosa...I'm not sure how big you want to go but here are a few links I ran across last night - it's not hard to see why you want one , you have great taste in orchids ..these guys can get pricey when you search "large" or in this case "speciman" sized plants.

Orchid Brassavola nodosa 'Gale' 65+ Growth Specimen - eBay (item 350087539710 end time Aug-16-08 17:21:42 PDT)

Orchid Brassavola Nodosa 'Gale' 300+ Growths IN BLOOM - eBay (item 160246286367 end time Aug-28-08 23:41:44 PDT)

Orchid Brassavola Nodosa 'Swan Song' 600+ Growth HUGE - eBay (item 160248844964 end time Sep-05-08 20:19:28 PDT)

Andy's has nice blooming size of the 'lady of the night'...hope this helps

Hi DerbyDale,
Welcome to OB, and to the wonderful world of growing chids in Florida...I encountered the same when I moved down 3 years ago.
As for the specimen size nodosa you are looking for, you might want to check with Whimsy Orchids, located in Homestead, Fl. The phone # there is [305] 242-1333. The last time I was there he had several, although I am not positive that they were for sale. It can't hurt to call and find out.
