I am new to the hobby/addiction of orchid culture.
After the fact, I see some of my collection is more suited to an experienced or expert grower - but doing bonsai has taught me that you will always have some successes, as well as some failures - what a better way to learn - except of course from the victims point of view.

Hi and welcome to Orchidboard

You've come to a great place! Folks from around the world sharing their experiences, successes and yes, even an occasional failure...they happen to every grower at every level of their experience.

Which chids in the collection do you think you might have a problem with? What conditions do you grow your chids in? It's very likely that folks here will come up with some ideas to increase their chances of surviving.

We'd love to see pictures too...it's another addiction of ours

If you need help, let us know

Hey dfleck,

It sounds like you have the right attitude. I totally agree. I'm looking forward to hearing about your bonsai (and seeing pics). Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I have a Masdevallia - and a fleurothallis that I think will be a challenge. I also purchased a Miltoniopsis that should be happy in my home - its generally on the cool side - our heating costs are getting out of sight.

I am a window sill grower - I did join a local orchid society - which I am sure will be most helpful - as will my new found friends at the Orchid Board. How did we ever survive without the internet???

Thanks again for the warm welcome. dfleck

Welcome to the board dfleck. I scanned your list and didn't see anything a northern windowsill could handle. As long as you feel comfortable with watering and feeding your 'chids (ie., you don't overwater, underwater, etc.) you be OK with your selection.
