Default Hello form upstate NY, USA

Glad to have found a place amongst equally enthusiastic orchid growers! Like Deb from Melbourne in the prior post, I must confess a bit of an addiction, including a special preference for the fragrant ones. My collection is outside enjoying our warm and humid summer weather. I'm getting a lot of summer growth that I hope translates into many blooms during our, sometimes dreary, winter.

Glad to be here,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Welcome to OB...where it's ok to be an addict...an orchid addict that is!
I enjoy the fragrant ones too...they are some of my favorites. It will be fun to see your plants as you post pics...your growing area is much different from mine in southwest Florida. I am unable to grow a lot of things you can...and vice versa.
Hope to "see" you around!

Hi Eileen, I love Vermont! Where abouts are you? I have family in St. Johnsbury plus my son went to college at Norwich U. The whole state is beautiful in my opinion!

Hi Kiki.....I live just outside the Rutland area..probably about 20 miles west of the Killington Ski Area... about 2 hours drive from St. Johnsbury and Norwich. I have only been to St. J once...when I picked up my little girl Peggy (my rescue Pug)..she was fostered there. It was in Feb and the drive was incredibly gorgeous..enormous evergreens covered in snow lined the main interstate and as far as the eye could see. There is always something I will see here that reminds me of loving it the first time I arrived ...25 years ago!..The snow and cold don't excite me anymore..used to ski but no longer. Would love to live someplace where my chids would enjoy being outdoors!.. Eileen

Default Thanks for the replies!!

Thanks for all the replies. Here is a Phal. or Dtps. hybrid (I think) one of the few that I have in bloom right now. Has bloomed prolifically at this time the last two years. If anyone can ID I would be most appreciative.

Eileen, we are just north of Albany NY, we get to Vermont a couple of times a year to visit my wife's family (Northeast Kingdom).
