Welcome, Kapers! The OB is indeed a wonderful, fun, informative place.
And if you don't have orchid fever now, you will soon. Lots of enablers here!! Enjoy!

Kapers.. Orchid Fever seems to arrive shortly after one starts asking the first questions about their first orchid..doors open and suddenly every store one goes into sells orchids! and then the available help from the OB..it bolster the interest and supports the Fever!...I have it too!..Haven't ordered any online yet, but that will be soon!..Eileen

Hi kapers! Good to have you with us. I would love to see the botanical gardens, etc.-in NYC one of these days!

I haven't logged on in a while, and just saw a bunch of other NYers! I live north of NYC in Dutchess County and have also lived in Endicott, Burnt Hills, Suffern, New Paltz and Poughkeepsie. I was bitten by the orchid bug about 10 years ago and have about 130 of them now. It's definitely a challenge during our cold months, but I've learned a lot from trial and error as well as gardening sites and forums. It's nice to meet other folks from up this way, as well as all you others! - Lynn

I love the New Paltz area. The mountains there are amazing. I myself am from the Ithaca area.

Welcome to the board. I am originally from Niagara Falls and Syracuse. Since then I have languished in Michigan where winters are way too long

Ross- longer winters than upstate NY? I don't believe it.
At least you traded up in college football teams.
Scruffy- Welcome
