Hello from Upper Michigan =)
Hi! I'm from the cold and snowy upper michigan, right on Lake Michgan actually, and I'm very new to orchids, but not to gardening as a whole. I have a beautiful white Phaleanopsis orchid (whose situation can be read in a forum I posted just now, titled "Should I repot this Phal.?") I'll be heading off to college this fall and I hope my roomate doesn't mind my flowery personality =) I would love to get in contact with someone who knows Phals well so that if i have issues i have someone to ask, but i would love to talk to anybody who wants to =)

Welcome from Cadillac (Michigan's Icebox, I'll have you know ) Where in the UP? Where are you going to school? I'm not a Phal collector right now, although I know a few things, having had many in the past. Fell free to post questions here, because I know there are lots of Phal growers.

Hi Michelle!
I love growing phals also! And, my son lives in Holland, Michigan (however I live in Maine). But I have visited there and stuck my big toe into Lake Michigan!!!! Brrr!
Welcome to the OB. Ask away if you have questions, someone will always be around to help.
Are you going to Michigan University? That's a pretty campus.
Hope you enjoy it here, Michelle, we have lots of fun.

Hi Michelle! I'm from Houghton Lake. I always love when someone from Michigan joins. I have mostly all phals but I wouldn't call myself an expert. They are my favorites though. Have fun on here and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Cats? What can I say, I have four, and some how or other, they seem to coexist with my orchids pretty well. Just get used to claw and tooth marks on the leaves. Be brave, it can work.

Hi Michelle...Welcome...I'm very new at this myself and own 3 phas and 1 den...I try to absorb as much info here as I can...everyone is so helpful..as for the cats..I have 2..I have certain house plants that have to live on top of the fridge (though 1 has managed to get to them) so far he doesn't seem to notice the chids..the phals are on my kitchen counter by the only south facing window with any space to set plants (at least until I get some kind of shelving!).. As long as he can go outside, they are probably safe..but I live in Vermont...so he's really inside all winter...looking longingly out the windows. By then the phals hopefully will be safely above the counter! Maybe I'll give them a room of their own..!.. Good luck with yours...and with college! Eileen
