Default Hi from Papua New Guinea

Hi,

My name is Phil and I live in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea - an elevation of around 5000ft.

I'm just starting to discover orchids - sometimes you can buy them in local markets, ones that people have found somewhere out in the 'bush'. I have some lovely mossy trees in the garden where I try and keep them going - but I'd love to know some names!

Information is scarce here - no nurseries or garden centres, very few books and only limited internet - I can't download many pictures, so encyclopedia sites aren't accessible.

If anyone can help me name my orchids, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks!

Hi, Phil. I have a Dyakia hendersonianium from Borneo. Is that close enough? So far I have kept it alive and it has bloomed twice, so I think it's sort of a success, but it doesn't really thrive. Any ideas?

Hi Phil!
Can you download some pictures for us? We will try to help you pinpoint the type of orchid you have. Welcome to OB!

Thanks Kiki!

I've put photos of those that have been flowering in the past couple of months on my gallery, a couple of which I have names for.

I've seen other posts with gallery pictures actually in the text of the post - can anyone tell me he best way to do this?
