I've found something very interesting. Many of you might have already known to this. When I was re-potting my new Phal. (pics in previous post), I notice that there was a clear plastic container inside a clear plastic container inside a decorative pot (no drainage) and there was a bunch of newspaper at the bottom of the pot to observed the water or keeping it moist. It sure was moist (closely to wet).

Also, I have a question. The roots of the phal has grown through the cracks of the original clear plastic container and wrapped around it. There is no way I can remove that plastic container w/o damage a good amount of roots. So left it as is and repot it. Is it okay to leave it like that? or Should rid of the roots to take the clear plastic container out?

Default sounds tricky to me

Being a newbie myself, I would have to defer to the experts here...I sure would be interested in that answer myself.. Eileen

First question......Where did you buy the plant? I've never seen this done even on a H/D or Lowe's plant.

Second question........Could you cut the original plastic pot off with a small pair of sterilized scissors?
A little snip at a time to save as many roots as possible?

It was a wedding centerpiece. But the original clear plastic container is impossible to cut it off because the roots grew out through the cracks and wrap itself around the container...very tightly..if I try to move the roots, i'll have to pinch it or break it off. I made the decision to leave it and just pot it in a bigger pot.

That's a great idea!

My friends LauraN, Linda (catlady) and I do that quite often

Splitting the shipping makes us feel better about how many plants we bought...and it's always more than one at a time

Get the most out of those shipping charges
