My name is Jill and I am a full time student at RI College; I have also just inherited our modest greenhouse since the prior manager retired! I have been here at the greenhouse for 18 months and I love it! I have learned so much about plants and their care and love learning new things as well!
While we have no manager, it is up to me to handle the BIO plant labs, art classes, and all other plant affairs! So from time to time I may ask ya'll for help or advice. Don't be shy! I don't bite, I just talk a lot. lol
Each semester I try to work on one project meant to experiment with what I have learned about plants and finding ways to make a plants life more enjoyable! This past March I attched some sphagnum moss to our 37+ year old grapefruit tree and afixed a baby Dendrobium sp. in hopes that it would grow much better in a similar environment to that which it grows in the wild! It is doing AMAZINGLY and just finished blooming! I'll be posting pics soon. I will also be attching 6-7 more Orchidaceae to different forks in the same tree. Wish me luck!
Wow! Great luck you have there! Hope everything works out fine and I am glad you chose to join the board. Let us know how things work out in the greenhouse.
Jill and to the OB !!!! Wow it sound amizing the new job that you've got. I'm sure that taking care of a greenhouse is not easy task but sound fun to me. ; enjoy the forum and of course we'll be waiting for some of your chids.
