Default thank, gands

Hi!
Thanks so much for clueing us in on the swap meet/auction in Boaz. I don't know about the other people here in Alabama who live near there, but I hadn't heard about that one. It sounds like something all of us in the area would enjoy....lots of fun.
Thanks again,
Vicki

Could be some real good bargains on plants and the fellowship should be a blast!

Here is some info on the event

The first annual Ridge Top Orchid Swap will be held on August 23rd at the home of Reggie Wright in Boaz, Alabama. The address is 675 Overlook Rd. Boaz. The event should start around 9:00-10:00am, but we expect people to be coming and going throughout the day. There will be an auction of orchids with a part of the proceeds going to whatever society the donator chooses. Venders / visitors will be able to sell, trade, buy, auction……………whatever. We want this to be a fun and casual opportunity for people to get together, and just do an orchid thing! I am currently aware of at least 4 orchid societies that will be represented: Huntsville, Birmingham, Anniston, Nashville. If you have any specific questions regarding the event, you can e-mail me at gandsgh@blomand.net or PM me. I believe the auction will begin around noon or so. This is a bring your own food and drink scenario, and No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the premises. I hope to see and meet many new people there!

So I wanted to know how the thing in Boaz went? We would have gone but had a death in the family. I guess I will just have to wait for the orchid show in b-ham.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I certainly understand what those situations can be like. The event was well attended about 50-70 people. 5 different societies had members present. The auction was quite a large one, about 250 plants or so. Weather was cool and overcast with just a bit of drizzle now and then, so very nice really, no one got too hot as can be the case in Alabama in August! Close to 1800.00 was raised for the various societies. So all in all it was a really nice get together and a great orchid afternoon. See you in B-Ham
