Default Greetings from SINCITY!! How can I grow in this weather?

Hello everyone! I'm been trying and trying to get my little orchid friends to work with me but it is so frustrating. I've read all the books and tried everything they say but it's been three years and I've got no love. Is there anybody out there who lives in this dry climate that is successful? I've joined hoping to make some friends that know what it's like here in the desert and are willing to share a little magic. I only have a few plants that were all purchased in spike and bloomed beautifully, but I have not been able to coax them into anything else. I have a Bachelors in Biology!! I am so ashamed! Someone please take me under your wing.

hi
Welcome to the OB. What kind of orchids do you have? I have had some luck and I am an indoor grower in Tucson, so our climates are probably pretty similar. Knowing the type of orchids you have will help me and others help you create an atmosphere that is the most appropriate for your orchids or help you find techniques with water and feeding.
Nice to meet you.
Abby

Hi JennySue,
You've found the right place for help. I see you already have picked up a friend with similar conditions.
There are lots of friendly, helpful folks here, just ask specific questions and include a photo if possible.

Glad you found us and looking forward to your pictues and questions.

Hi JennySue, and welcome. Reno may not be quite as bad as Vegas, but I've been coping for about fourty years here, so it can be done. Ask away, and we'll do our best to help you with this addiction you have come down with. Above all, have fun!

I'm trying to add some pics but I guess they are too big and I can't figure out how to shrink them. Any advice.
