Default Hello...I am a newbie

I am a newcomer to the boards and wanted to say hello. I have been fascinated by Orchids for years and am looking forward to finding how to properly care for them.

I purchased a few orchids (Phalaenopsis) a few years back and lost all of them despite my best efforts. I am here to learn how to do things right and eventually build a collection that has a few orchids in bloom each season.

Looking forward to participating in the boards and learning from others!

Hi cyberbrat!!!!! How are you? I'm glad to see you here... I'm relatively new to the orchid world myself, only been growing since January... I've lost two of the twelve phalaenopsis I've bought... it's a very sad feeling... almost like losing a dear pet. But the rest of my plants are doing really well now (I lost the two due to overfetilization), because i don't fertilize as much now lol. I also have seven paphiopedilum orchids on the way that I ordered yesterday... never tried growing paphs before!

Can you post some pictures of your plants for us?

Glad to have you with us!

Hi Katfemme89,

Thanks for the welcome! Where did you order the paphs from? I am wanting to build a small phalaenopsis collection and then diversify. I am sorry to hear you lost some of yours also. I am excited about joining the board!I have one pic so far...

Welcome to the OB C_Brat! I am sure you wil find all the advise you can get here, I am in love with phals myself and yes... I have lost a couple of them in the process, but you'll see you'll get the hang of it.

BTW (I think I already posted this in your other thread) what a beautiful Phal... where did it come from?

Hi priz_m,

I got the orchid at the grocery store...I could not believe it. It is sort of voilet/white with yellow center. Could not resist!!!

An orchid obsession is born!
