Hi Flhiker,
Thanks for the welcome! When I get everything organized, I would like to take some pics of the lil orchids I have and share them with all of you. Right now, there's an orchid here, one there, one somewhere else...some in front of an east window in my kitchen, a couple on a south window ledge, also in my kitchen, and some outside. I'd like to put up some kind of shelving so that I can keep them together a lil better. The best place for some shelves (or something) is on the back porch. I don't want anything elaborate...just a tad more organization. I'm trying to figure out the best area with the most sun that's not direct, of course. Anyway, as far as my watering schedule has been going, I've been watering most everything that's inside once a week...except my Vanda's....which get watered twice each week. I mist everything daily, too. I water all of my orchids outside at least once each week, depending on their size, medium, and amount of light they receive. Oh, I forgot to mention that I have a small humidifier near the plants that are in front of my east window. The humidity there is generally 50-60%. I know I don't have to best growing conditions, but for now, this is the best I can do. Alabama weather poses some challenges, so being new at this, it's just a trial an error thing for me.
Take care...and trust me, you'll be hearing from me again...with my loads and loads of questions. lol

For a beginner you sure seem to know a lot, at least about watering, and lighting, and humidifiers, and organizing. I will be asking you loads of questions pretty soon. Now all you have to do is figure out the threads and Im sure you'll get plenty of help, as Im sure you've noticed just from all the people welcoming you

17 in only 1 month? You go girl! You are definitely in the right place. There are some major growers here. Check out the thread on 'How many orchids do you have?' and you will find collections ranging from 1 or 2 into the thousands. These people are majorly orchid obcessed. They are also among the nicest people that you will ever meet. They teach, gently correct, tease, and encourage. You'll like it here. Welcome!

Thank you again, Dorothy! I have another favor to ask of you, please. If you will, I would really appreciate it if you will contact me somehow if I make a posting error of some sort in the future. Seriously, knowing about mistakes will really help me get on the right track. Thanks also for welcoming me and thanks to the other members for doing the same, as well. I just felt bad that I didn't say thanks to them correctly..but I hope they understood that I didn't have a clue how to. lol

You're doing great Vicki.
Everyone is a newbie at some point. It just takes time to learn the in's and out's of the forum.
Heck I still don't know how to do half the stuff available here!
