Talking Howdy from the Texas Panhandle

- as you can probably see I've been "lurking" for a while -
gathering all the info I could from the orchid "gods"

OK, I admit I am an orchidholic. When's the first meeting?

My front porch has been officially titled flowertopia by my twins.
I still have some room left and just ordered a few from Andy's.
Should be here FRIDAY! I can't wait!!!!!! I really needed those hanging baskets!

I do have a question though - I will look and see where to post it too but does anyone know if there is a club or society in the Amarillo area?

Thanks and I can't wait to "meet" everyone!

Default Thank you!

Thank you all so much for your welcome! As for my "growing area" the sun is SOOOO brutal here (not to mention our 70 mph wind gusts) that I grow catts in the shade on my porch! I have nothing special "YET" other than a nice big front porch for those shade lovers and a huge patio in the back for the sun lovers with lots of shade trees. In the winter everyone gets stacked around a ground/built in hot tub with windows facing the south and west. But depending on the weather, some years that is not until November! I do great with the catts, dens and onc because we do have negative humidity here and I've recently branched to a few bulbs but we'll see. They are not happy right now - leaf tips browning a little on a few but everyone does seem to acclimate eventually. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks so much for the orchid society links - unfortunately Dallas is a 6 hour drive from here depending on how heavy my foot is!

Yep - Dallas is going to be the closest one! I guess no one else is crazy enough to grow these beauties in the Panhandle ... Maybe I am missing something??

WELCOME!!!! you have certainly come to the right place.

we look forward to read all stories of flowertopia.

Glad to have you on board....

BTW... we don't attend OA (Orchidaholics Anonymous) meetings, since that might actually cure us , we don't want that, do we?

Read you around!
