Hello from West Central Florida Female
Default Hello from West Central Florida

I've been lurking here for a while and thought I'd go ahead and post my intro.

First my ID...The name comes from my other hobby, collecting, showing and painting scale model horse figurines. Breyer Horses are the brand that most are familiar with but I collect mostly artist resins theses days.

I live in continental US orchid heaven...otherwise known as Florida. Most of my orchids are mounted and hang outdoors year round. I have close to 100 orchids now.

I don't really specialize but I do have more Phals then anything else. As I've gotten older I've developed an appreciation for species and primary hybrids and have been concentrating on them over the last year or so.

I work in horticulture as an Interiorscaper/Certified Pest Control Operator. I've been with the same company for over 15 yrs. I love the work and the perk of getting many of my orchids (and plants in general) at wholesale costs.

It is a goal of mine to be able to keep a Masdevallia alive for longer then 6 months here.

This looks like a great board. I may not be here every day as life and those orchids keep me hopping but I hope to learn and contribute to this board for a long time to come.

HC

Edited to add that my photo is of one of my favorite orchids and is one of the few that resides indoors year round, Maxillaria tenuifolia.

Here are a couple of photos I took last month.

In order they are:

I have three of those lattace works now

My house has one bank of window that are conductive for growing and I save it for the Paphs and that Maxillaria.

I've learned from trial and a big error the Max doesn't like being mounted. Thankfully mine recovered and is doing well.

My husband is grumbling that one day soon the house will be wrapped entirely in lattace.

Is this a bad thing?!
