Hello, I am new here and not quiet sure how to use this forum!

My name is Barb and I've just discovered this forum and am quiet ecxited to use it. There is a little problem though... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO USE IT! I have tons of questions concerning my orchids but I am not sure where can I ask them... How do I create my subjects of discussion? How does the chat room work? How exacly can I conect with the other members to ask them my questions? Aaaaaaaaaaah! Help!

Hi Barb...welcome to the neighborhood

Not to worry...we'll help you along.

Look in the column on the left side of the page...the second item listed is FORUMS. Click there and the next page that comes up will show you all of the different subject forums available. You can post according to what type of orchid you have, or if you're growing it in a greenhouse or a terrarium, among many other choices. If you are unsure, post in our Beginner forum and if the mods (I'm one of them ) feel it could go in a better place for more exposure, we'll move it for you.

We usually have a number of folks in the chat room each night starting around 8pm EST. Stop in and join us We may sometimes get off-topic...and have a lot of fun...but we can start talking orchids at the drop of a dime!

I hope to see you around the boards. If you need further help, let us know. We've got some great folks around here, always willing to share their knowledge.

Welcome Barb. As you get used to this board, things will finally seem simple. Yes it can be daunting at first, because this is probably the best and most complete source of orchid-related info on the web. That makes it pretty complex as well. Most of us just look at the "new posts" link at the top of the page and surf those. When you want an answer to a specific question, try the search function. I've been here quite a while now and I can't think (right now) of any topic that hasn't been discussed so far. Glad you chose to join.
