. !!!
I actually signed up some months ago, but am back with more questions so figured an intro is more than in order.
I've been growing plants since I was a kid (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth). Some years back, I bought a phalenopsis on the half-off shelf at Longwood Gardens, and another soon after at the local supermarket.
After way too much time putzing around, following some not very helpful online info, and failing at hydro, about two years back it was time to get serious about growing orchids. Things have been taking off since then.
I now have a couple of phalenopsis (phalenopses?), a couple of oncidium, a couple of dendrochilum, a small terrarium, and a huge cymbidium that's throwing a flower stalk at me (panic!). A few are on order for the spring. Some plants have rebloomed, and some plants have shrivelled up and died. But I am having fun with this - and the cat has only really chewed on one plant.
It's a great hobby. I'm really looking forward to learning more about these beings known as Orchidaceae.
(Obsession? Sickness? What do these words mean? :-DDDD)
