Just realized I never did this lol- Hello everyone!
Hello! I haven't done this yet so I decided I would do it lol.
My name is Leland and I am a 14 year old native orchid propagator and researcher. I spend most of my time in bogs and rich forests studying native spring ephemerals and wild orchids. Not much else to say, other than I have autism and why I got into orchids, which was when I discovered how large the orchid family is.
I hope I can enjoy my stay!

Welcome to the Orchid Board, Leland, from a fellow Michigander!
At least I'm guessing you live in Michigan based on your user name. ![Wink](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Hi there! Would love to hear what orchids interest you and types you find in your area or wherever you have investigated. Wish I had started my hobby when I was your age. ![Waving](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/thumb_wave.gif)

Welcome, Leland!
I hope that you will be able share some photos of the in-situ wild orchids and other wild plants that you find in your area. Looking forward to spring!

Welcome to the OB. Depending on where in Michigan you live you can definitely find a bunch of native species. I’ve taken pictures of over two dozen but, unfortunately, most of them were from when cameras still used film.
A good reference book, but somewhat dated, is “Orchids of the Western Great Lakes Region” by Fred Case, published by Cranbrook Institute of Science.
Good hunting!
