Talking Hello everyone

Hi,
I've been lurking on this forum for a while and decided to post an introduction.

I've been growing orchids indoors in my Utah home for several years now. In the fall of 2006, I started growing seedlings too. I just like the challenge of raising things from seedlings.

I mainly grow miniatures and small- to medium-sized orchids. That way, more fit in my growing room - my bathroom. I grow on the windowsill and under lights, and only use RO water. I keep the humidity high with three humidifiers. I run a fan 24/7 to provide good air circulation and keep a very close eye on everything. Once I had a small infestation of mites that killed a few things before I knew what was going on, but that has been my only problem. I like how they are growing so close by so I can go in and fuss over them several times a day.

You can see some of my flowers here: Orchids by Lisa

Thanks for a great forum!

~Lisa (Cruetsonly)

Welcome Lisa. Looks like a great collection. I specialize in Angraecoids, myself, and look forward to your posts regarding yours. Checked out you pics and they look really nice.

Thanks, Ross. I need to get around to adding a few more photos. I have more but just don't take the time to add them. I'd rather play with the orchids. haha

Please always to remember to do preventive spraying.
It's always the best. Don't wait till you see a problem. Just like penicillian (sp), you have to switch around what you spray with as they will become immune to it.

Happy Growing

Thanks, everyone. It seems like a very informative board...and I really like orchids, so I'm always happy to share information!

For April Fool's day, I sent out a letter to my family and friends telling them we were moving to Florida so I could better grow my orchids. I was amazed at how many people believed me! lol
