Hi from Buffalo NY!
Red face Hi from Buffalo NY!

Hi! My name is Jenna and I’m from Buffalo, NY! This is the first I’ve ever joined/posted in a forum like this before. I’ve recently started appreciating orchids and they have quickly become one of my favorite plants! The first orchid I ever purchased is currently taking me on an adventure, so I thought I would share a few photos with other orchid lovers! It has only bloomed one time in my care, and when the blooms dropped I trimmed the stem back to the next node. Months ago, it started growing from that node. At first I thought it was going to flower, then as the leaves appeared I thought it could be a keiki, and now I have no idea! But it has been such a joy to watch and I hope you appreciate it as much as I do!

Welcome to you from Charleston, SC! I'm new here too. I have learned you need five posts before you can post photos, and you can find more info under Forums->About this Board->Tips for posting Photos. (I can't post a link either!)

Stay warm up there!

It is an adventure! I have a Phal schilleriana that is doing the same thing. It started what looked like a spike, then sprouted leaves (but no roots) and now has flower spikes developing (but still no roots, so doesn't count as a keiki, could not live independently) So.... they do what they want to do, we just sit back and watch. (I'll post photo when it blooms, will be a month or two)

Welcome, Jenna.

Hope you didn’t get clobbered too badly by the recent weather.

Welcome! I’m not that far away, in Ithaca. What an interesting growth… nearly symmetrical. Keep us updated on how it progresses, I’m curious!
