Well I started two posts already so this is a late introduction, but I plan on being here for a while so I feel I must introduce myself.
I've been a casual phalaenopsis grower for over 10 years. Then I got a discounted noid dendrobium two years ago which hasn't bloomed. It's probably because I gave it suboptimal conditions inside my house.
Three months ago, bored and in need of a new hobby, I ordered on Amazon one of those "get 5 random young live orchids" specials. That happened and then I ordered some more from a different seller. And then I ordered more and then I try not to order anymore...
Planting runs in my family. My parents keep an amazing garden of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and tropicals. My mother's side has avid potted plant growers, and my father's side has farmers. Supernatural green thumb is not hereditary in my experience, but my appreciation for plants has always been there.
I have a few blooming sized orchids but most of them are young. They are cattleyas, oncidiums, zygopetalums, cymbidiums, and dendrobiums. I'm attracted to having seedlings because for me the main joy of keeping orchids is the growing part.
Current challenge is finding a decent place outdoors for some of the high light orchids. That's about it. Thanks for reading my drivel.
