Hello from Wales Male
Default Hello from Wales

Hi everyone

My name is Richard and I live in Wales, UK. I was an ecologist that worked primarily on reptiles and later marine invertebrates but have for a number of years found myself working more and more with plants. I also keep various tropical plants - with a particular interest in Nepenthes and Orchids.

I am currently researching orchids as part of a wider book project that I’m working on, so I figured that this forum would be a great place to connect with orchid experts who might be able to answer some of the many questions I have!

Thanks

Rich

Hi! How wonderful to have you join us!
I collect other tropical plants, too, and, recently, acquired two Nepenthes as spouse and daughter enjoy seeing my Pinguicula getting mosquitos and gnats and found that there was a plant for the flies and wasps...which they find very annoying.

You might wish to consider joining an orchid society, too. It is another great way to meet knowledgeable people. Some societies are holding their meetings on Zoom and you can go to their website, look for a contact, and contact that person and they will send you a Zoom link. I belong to the Greater Akron Orchid Society and we are holding ours on Zoom currently and we have people from other parts of the US attending (it is free).

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! There’s a couple of orchid societies in the U.K. that I think I might join (alongside the other societies for the remaining non-orchid research I’m doing. Assuming I don’t get orchidelerium that is!)

Welcome. I must say that once you start with these highly addictive plants, your delirium is assured! Welcome to your new addiction!
