Default Hello from SF Bay Area

Hello,

I am relatively new to growing orchids. Many, many years ago I tried to grow orchids to no avail. But afew years ago I found some orchids on the sidewalk. Most were covered with Woolly Aphids. Suffice it to say, all died except for two. One orchid had a tag an Lc Loog Tone SD & the other I found out to be an Onc Sharry Baby. Now, the survivors appear to be happily growing, thriving & blooming every year in my bay window. One thing is they've never been repotted. This year the Lc Loog Tone SD has 7 blooms, the most ever! And it blooms every July & the blooms last through August. Since these are thriving I've decided to expand my attempt to grow more orchids in my window sill. And what better place than the Orchid Board for advice!!!

Welcome! We have a number of orchid societies in the Bay Area. What part are you from? I'm sure you could find one that would be convenient for you, and it's a great way too learn more about orchids and meet like-minded people.

If you are anywhere near Concord, you might be interested in attending the Diablo View Orchid Society Auction on Aug. 14th. It will be a chance to pick up some nice plants! Here is a link to our website; the Auction information is there near the top if you scroll down a bit.
