Hi everyone, I've been finding information on this board for awhile so I thought I should go ahead and introduce myself. I've been collecting orchids for about a year now and I have a rapidly growing collection. I am always open to feedback on my plants:
These are my Phals. I've got them in a west-facing window but I am surrounded by tall buildings so they don't get too much sun. My house is 65 at night and 72 during the day, so these aren't flowering. I plan on putting them outside once the low stays above 55. The one on the left is a rehab, not completely sure it is a phal. It was being grown in water alone. I've recently sprayed it with Listerine and now I'm letting it recover.
These are my Miltoniopsis (two in back) and a Colmanara Wildcat in front. That one is a rehab also and recently got the Listerine treatment. The Mil in the back right is blackening on the tips and i suspect over-fertilizing, so I just flushed it and I'm letting it dry.
This is the massive Cymbidium that recently got done flowering. Afterward it developed a lot of black spots. It was in a small nursery pot still and the potting medium was dust, so I went ahead and took it out, let it dry and rest, just did some Listerine, and repotted in a new orchid pot. Seems like it is happier now, I just need to watch for more black spots.
my Maxillaria Variabilis. I've noticed some shriveling of the psudobulbs and drying leaves, and one psudobulb is going black and squishy. I'm guessing it needs more humidity so I'm going to transfer it to my terrarium.
This is my terrarium. I've got a full-spectrum LED light, heating pad on bottom, and just got a new humidity setup that hasn't arrived yet. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been humid enough and I'm afraid that it isn't warm enough so I'd love recommendations on heaters.
Top left is a
Sophronitis Cernua which seems happy though it's not growing much. The large one in the middle is
Encyclia Cattleya. Bulb is shriveling and I'm seeing some black on the leaf tips, so maybe too much fertilizer. Right of that is a Hoya, below that is my
Rhynchostylis coelestis 'Blue' which seems pretty happy. Left of that is my
Denodrobrium Moniliforme Koyouden which grew leaves in the spring then lost them. I potted it in sphagnum and I'm thinking that was the problem, so I just put it in something coarse and fast drying. Finally is the
Monnierara Jumbo Delight which is putting out new growth though kinda slowly.
