oh i know spider mites! they love cannabis flowers also.

the weird thing with the blast, is that it happened at the same time to both plants, so i kind of know it was something i did, or indirectly did. although they did come from the same store.

about a week and a half after i got them, south texas got crazy snow. like crazy snow. like ive lived here my whole life, and ive never seen snow like this.

power was out for about a week, plants were put by window during this time. i had not repotted them yet.
it got down to 9* one night. 9 freaking degrees. what the crap. i bundled up the roots with blankets, and let them soak up winter sunlight through the south facing window.

after i got power back, they moved back into garage under LED. with heater on, and i have a homemade "humidifier" underneath both plants, which consists of one of the glass pots one of the orchids came with filled with water, and has a aquarium heater submerged in it. it sits in the reserve pot for my semihydroponics. the water never gets above luke warm. is this providing enough humidity?

Considering the power loss and horrid weather, I think that all did OK. Humidity should be adequate - do you have a way to measure it? Humidity is not all that critical as long as it isn't bone dry for too long (When I have several days of super-dry winds, humidity in the 10-20% range, I just water more) With all of your other plants, I don't think you have anything to worry about there.

i guess i could invest in a barometer. i might have once actually if i dig around a bit.
being so close to the coast, im used to sweating through my pants during the summer by early morning. so i dont think humidity is the issue

Don't know what would be the use of a barometer... hydrometer maybe. But I don't think you have a humidity problem (Orchids like it, people not so much)

you seem to have the right approach, learn first, then buy....i was not smart enough to take that route but it is a lot easier and will have less dead plants along the path
