Welcome to the board OCAL. I’m in NSW, just north of Sydney.

Your cymbidium are great.

If you want to branch out and grow those ‘summer orchids’ as you put it then you will probably find various Laelia species and hybrids (like L. anceps or L. albida) will grow well in your climate outside but under shadecloth shelter. Also many of the species and hybrids in the Oncidium alliance will do well, especially ones with Cochlioda or Brassia prevalent in the mix. Plus you may be able to grow Miltoniopsis or Odontoglossums (an old name but most people still know what it means). Many of us would love to grow these latter two but can’t - I keep trying because I really love odontoglossums but I always fail due to climate. Miltonopsis is a beautiful genus which really does flower in summer, although the others mentioned are more likely spring or autumn. Coelogynes should do well too - especially cristata and ‘unchained melody’. I think Stanhopeas would too but check that as I’m less sure of them then of the others mentioned.

And of course Australia has about 1400 species of native orchid plus many thousands of hybrids of these, almost all of which would suit the Melbourne climate.

I have bought orchids from Australian Orchid Nurseries and Mount Beenak Orchids, both of which are near Melbourne, I think. They aren’t the cheapest dealers but will know exactly what will do well in your climate. When lockdown is over they may be worth a visit.

Cheers
Arron

Due to our different weather . .
Climate plays a massive part, in to How or what you can or can't grow

I have a Massive Stanhopea
I'm in love with it,
Even though it's not in flower now . .
That plant is just adorable
( I don't know, still haven't figured out, How to upload pictures from my ph )

Absolutely, there are Many now
I will just have to Search & Research ..

I haven't heard of those nurseries,
But I will for sure, Look into them ..

You've been so Helpful,
Thanks heaps for your reply
