Ryan from Apopka, Florida: Newly Minted Orchid Nerd Part of Conservation Syndicate
Hello, Orchid Board patrons, my name is Ryan. I live in Apopka, Florida, near Orlando, and I am a part of a conservation syndicate started by two of my friends where we grow various species of endangered orchids and carnivorous plants.
My aforementioned colleagues are biologists who have a lot of experience with plant-growing while I am but a humble plant nerd who enjoys working with plants but doesn't know a whole lot about them. However, I am learning fast and hope to learn more about the identification, care, and propgation of various orchid species from this forum.
I am mainly here on this forum to connect with like-minded orchid growers, both to learn more about orchids and to sell the myriad species we have available. Thanks for taking time to read this and I hope to meet some cool, new faces here.

Welcome! I don't grow in conditions similar to yours at all, but hopefully you will learn a lot from others here! Feel free to ask questions! Everyone is very friendly.

Hi DrDawn, thanks for dropping by. Yeah, I imagine growing in a colder climate like Massachusetts necessitates more initial greenhouse establishment to insure your plants can survive.
Do you have an established greenhouse? What types of orchids do you grow?

Hi Ryan! You can see my orchid list my checking out my profile, you can click on my name and go to the tab "About Me". I mostly grow Phalaenopsises, with a bunch of Cattleyas thrown in because that's what my dad had a ton of when I was a kid, so they are very nostalgic for me (but they don't love my growing conditions, so I've never flowered one!). I've got some other shady things on order like a few Masdevallias, so we'll see what I can convince to flower in my setup. I grow in my dining room with a southeast facing window. My dad has a hobby greenhouse in Connecticut mostly growing Cattleyas, Vandas, etc, and now he's getting into weird tiny bulbophyllum species? I guess over 40 years you can evolve your preferences. :-P

Hi RJ, and welcome to Orchid Board. As said, lots of folks here with much knowledge, and lots of folks here seeking to learn more. Ask away.
As far as selling, there's a classified ads section here, which is the best way to promote something you have for sale.
