Hi y'all!

My name is Christoph, I currently live on the East Coast US with my wife and the baby and just recently came back to orchids.
Since Corona and the newborn forced me to work from home I started digging infos about the most beautiful flowers that exists.
I had many years ago a fair amount of flowers from Brazil and was into this hobby but moved away and my mother basically over-watered them until they where gone.

I do have a sweet spot for plumeria, banana plants and birds of paradise as well. Especially plumerias from Hawaii is a huge thing for me, wife and i got married over there.
The flowers are a huge contradiction with my other hobbies, triathlon and cars.
I grow several kind of chillies and tomatos and recently other herbs for the biggest hobby of all - food.

thats me, looking forward spending a lot of time here.
I have ordered many different orchids across the web and have some of them already here. I'm not 100percent sold on one species yet, although I love phals and Paphiopedliums, I have Vandas and others as well.

The only sweet spot I have for plumeria is in my heart. I would love to grow one. I am in NM and have a room for plants near my front door. I lived in Maui for 5 months when I was younger. Sigh...I love Plumeria.

Welcome to OB. You will love it and learn a lot. I am a novice so you probanly know more than me. There are wonderful experts and long time growers here that will answer any questions you have.
Try to post a few more times, and then try adding your photos in a edit to the above post. Seem like I remember for new members it is after five or 10 post.

I would love to grow one. Do you think I could grow one indoors in NM. I am trying to keep my humidity up above 50% but is difficult as my space is open with high ceilings.

they actually don't like water as much as people think...that's the easiest way to kill a cutting.


i have a few that will be big enough to clip by the end of the season....i'll send you one if you want to try

OMG i would love that. Let me know. I will pm my address to you. TY TY Ty/ I cried when I left Maui in the fall of 77. Took my kids back when they were teenagers but have not been back since.

We grow them indoors and not with particular high humidity. I have one cutting I took 2016 from Hawaii and it took me 3 years before I had proper blooming

it would be worth the wait. If I can wait 2 years for a seedling zygopedalum to bloom. I will be able to wait three for a plumeria. Thanks for the information. I am excited to know it can be grown indoors even in dry NM.
