hi everyone! i'm a relative orchid newbie so i'm excited to have another resource for orchid knowledge. i also hope i'll get to share some photos of my orchid successes.

thanks for being such a welcoming community!

here are some of my favorite orchids so far:
neofinetia, ascocentra, and other vanda
all the weirdest bulbophyllums
jewel orchids
vanilla vines
the reed stem weed-like epidendrums
...and anything else i lay my eyes on

what are some of your faves?

Welcome! Living close to the ocean, there are LOTS of orchids that will grow well outside for you. It's an adventure! As we get into show season, hang on to your wallet...

Welcome to the Orchid Board! I have a small collection of only Phalaenopsis orchids, as I have found these are what do best in my indoor growing conditions. As Roberta said, living where you do, you will have a lot of options open to you!

Talking Venice 1978+

Shana, I only grow Phals. I think I only grow those because I like the huge leaves.

My daughters and I lived in an apartment on the boardwalk. They were champion roller skaters in their early teens. They still go back for a reunions almost every year.
Fun times. I was in my late thirties and now I am 78. Loved the excitement of Venice Beach. I read Tarot cards there one summer and made money. Welcome to OB. You will find an expert (not me) for any question about any orchid topic
