I've long had an interests in plants, and have grown numerous cacti and other succulents from seed in the past. I also enjoy photography, particularly macro work with stacked focus, and stereo imaging. It was probably inevitable that I would eventually try growing orchids (but not from seed).

I've got a handful under lights in my kitchen as I experiment to see which genera can tolerate a Wichita summer. Currently in bloom are Coelogyne graminifolia and Oncidium Tsiku Marguerite. They should soon be joined by a Prosthechea and a small Cattleya hybrid.

Your orchids will be just fine in Kansas sun. Well, most of them... I did manage to fry a Masdevallia last summer, but it was owner error.
