Getting Ramasamyara Jairak Blue & care of

, I’m new here & would appreciate advice on how to care for a new orchid I ordered. It’s called Ramasamyara Jairak Blue. I have several Phal’s and am now getting other varieties of orchids . I live in Golden BC ,Canada. We have long ,cold winters so all my orchids are indoor plants . Thanks in advance for any help :

I just looked this one up. What a beauty!

Is it potted? If it bare root (like in a plastic basket) you'll need to deal with its moisture needs. There are several possible approaches. Your biggest challenge is going to be giving it enough light to bloom. Phals are low-light plants, but this one needs very bright light, all day... You will need to consider artificial lighting to supplement what comes in the window, especially in winter. There are options using LED lights. Some others on the Forum will have more specific suggestions - we have members with many creative ideas. (I can identify the potential problems, but others will have much better solutions)

Is it a tolumnia? Jirak is a variety of tolumnia I have.

Right.. This one is a complex Vandaceous hybrid.

I have no idea what it comes in I should be receiving it next week. I think (hope) it’s potted . I’ve never seen one . I just ordered it online today . It said it’s ready to bloom soon . I have no idea how to care for it . I do have good south-south east windows so am hoping that will be good light .

We all push the boundaries of what we can grow... you have given yourself a challenge, but there are plenty of people on the Board who will encourage you and give you some ideas. This orchid can take as much light as you can give it. If it is coming in bud, you will get a chance to see the beautiful flowers. Getting it to rebloom may take some doing, but for now, enjoy, and keep us posted. When it arrives, you'll have questions... be sure to post photos so that others will be able to see you see.

I just got this I mail today .its not in pot .i do have perfect windows to put it in but how do I do that? Am I supposed to put it in a pot? What kind of medium? That is one huge plant! Probably not the best choice for your growing conditions, but you have it. I would suggest putting into a plastic pot (in the US I would say a "1 gallon pot" .. you can probably find a similar size pot at your your nursery supply or home-improvement store, about 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter, about 8 inches (20 cm) deep. Put whatever roots are on the lower part of the plant into the pot, fill in with large bark. Adding a stake to stabilize the plant will be helpful. The aerial roots (which will be most of them) can be kept hydrated by misting heavily when you water the pot. A grow tent would be great to boost humidity if you can manage it, otherwise you will just need to use that spray bottle a lot.

Beast. I would attach the main stem to a long stake at two or three points and then follow the above advice. Maybe add some lava rock to add mass and help it stand up. Look very healthy with all those roots
