Hi Austin. Glad you joined. What tyrpes of orchids are you growing? Pictures?

We're real newbies, just started picking up orchids like phaleonopsis and paphs because we liked them, then began keeping them alive and now some are reflowering. We are in love with them! We have jewel orchid, vanilla orchid, and now at a local plant festival bought a little bitty (1/2" tall) baby called mysteriously enough, Chinese Ground Orchid. We have no idea what it will look like, but it has already doubled in size since yesterday -- does anyone have suggestions for what this might be?

We are also interested in learning more about keikis and how to propogate and encourage these.

I never knew they were called Chinese Ground Orchids! See? I learn something new every day here

Keikis are cool because they give you more plants, yes.
That being said, you really don't want to hope for keikis. If the plant is producing keikis, not much energy is going into blooming

I was going to say that. While Keikis are a cheap way to increase your collection, in general, they draw down the strength of the parent plant and sometimes point to problems with the health of the parent plant.
