Yo.

Mom gifted me three housewarming orchids a couple years ago, and they have thrived thanks to an awesome morning sun location. Recent root growth piqued my curiosity to research, so here I am

Sadly, I threw out the tags, not realizing they would be important later (also did not expect them to survive this long). I saw the ID forum, however, not sure I want to post there yet, might lead to further curiosity and eventually meddling.

A few weekends ago, I picked up a couple small ones that look like the phalwatchamacallits from a little lady at the local farmer's market, that I might try to change over to the partial hydroponic method once the blooms fade.

Most orchids all look the same to me right now

Welcome to Orchid Board Kvet! If your first three orchids look similar to phalwhatchamacallits, ya may have a whole tribe of phalwhatchamacallits! Post away and let's see.

Haha, thanks I ended up caving to curiosity, posted in the id sub board here, and indeed, one is a phalmathingerjigger.

I now have a phal triumverate, a zygo, and a dendro nobile or something. I want to get a few more different kinds, but going to take it slow. I can get carried away too easily!

Reading through the boards, it seems most majority of you (if not all?) keep each orchid in its own pot, instead of mix-n-matching several into a single pot to create an arrangement. Hmmmmm. I don't want to disrupt these now since they appear to be thriving, so I'll just leave them be, but I guess at some point I will have to repot them as the orchid bark breaks down, right?

Putting several orchids into the same pot is not the best idea, as that provides and excellent way for them to share pathogens.

Instead, consider individual pots placed in a larger basket of other container, surrounded by decorative moss or something.

I commend you recognizing that you ought to slow down. The three different types of orchids you currently own each have their own cultural demands, and growing them together is not likely to be successful. Stop here and see how they do in your conditions, and it will provide a guide for future acquisitions.
