Hi!

I have recently bought a Tolumnia orchid. This is my first orchid, and I am quite nervous about giving the proper care to the orchid.

Of late, I have had a fascination with orchids. I kinda suprised myself when I bought it, considering that I am not a natural with plants.

Right now, my orchid is sitting in front of a window with a blind that is opened at times. The light is minimal to moderate. She is in a 2.5 inch pot with peat moss and some sort of charcoal substance.

Any suggestions are welcomed!

I look forward to interacting with the orchid community!

well for starters, welcome ^^ snap some pics =) we all love pictures!!

tolumnia are orchids that love lots of light. better to give it max amounts of light without sunburning them. and they are usually in very open draining media so charcoal sounds good to me... but peat moss... **shrugs** no clue. someone's gotta know something about it, i dun, haha. i think of it as that fluffy that that u could grow african violets in? haha...

Welcome to the board Debra, ditto what Nick said and I would take it out of the peat moss and put it in charcoal or bark, they also need to dry between waterings.
