Hello from San Diego, CA!

I'm new to posting on this orchid board or any board for that matter. I normally just like to read what everyone has to say and all the terrific ideas.
I've just moved from Los Angeles, CA to San Diego, CA. I only have Phalaenopsis and Cymbidiums (although all of my Cymbidiums got left in LA because I don't have much room in SD). All my Phals hated the move because they went from a perfect east facing window to a south window where they kept getting burned. I had to keep the wood shade down but I didn't think they were getting enough sunshine. Now I've bought a plastic shade and hopefully that helps. We'll see.
Lastly, I normally kill most plants but I seem to have better luck with orchids because I normally forget to water them and apparently that's a good thing. However, I'm finding that I tend to pay more attention to the orchids because they're pretty whether they have flowers or not. All I want for them is to continue to be healthy.
