I'm 42, from Sweden, but I've lived in the Netherlands for the past 18 years. I've had orchids for like 15 years or so. I ended up having only orchids as it turns out I suck when it comes to plants. After all my other plants died, the only ones that survived were the orchids, which is why I only have orchids in my house and no other plants (except for cat-grass which keeps dying too, I constantly have to buy new ones).
Visiting friends and noticing their nice plants, I was thinking to myself: "it does make such a difference to a house, it looks nice, but now even my orchids have seen better days." So I figured it's time I start learning. I guess it'll even be good for me having a new "hobby" and who knows once I've figured out the orchids, I can move on to learning how to care for other plants too.
Anyway so right now I'm in the process of re-potting my orchids for the first time ever. Unfortunately some of the older ones don't have many roots left. I hope with some patience I can get them in better shape.
