Mick,
I cannot really see the base of the pseudobulbs but I think they look a bit swollen like a Cattleya bowringiana. Look and see what the cross S. lyonsii X C. bowringiana is called and see if you can find a picture of that cross looks like and compare. Please keep us all posted.
Keep well and kind regards
Mike

Following the Cattleya bowringiana X Schomburgkia lyonsii path I found the Schombocattleyas but as C. bowringiana is now a Guaranthe I ended up with a search for a Guariburgkia. According to the RHS there ain't none - world's gone mad.

Mick,
Tried to reply from the work computer without success (would not allow access). Did you look to see what crosses have been made using Schomburgkia lyonsii?
I have Schombolaelia Summit (Schomb. lyonsii X Laelia anceps) coming into flower now. Flowers not as dark as yours but still spotted. The lip structure suggests as a parent what are now called Guaranthe but check out what the cross Schomb. lyonsii X C. bowringiana (or C. aurantiaca or C. skinneri) are called and then see if you can find a picture of those crosses.
Keep well and kind regards
Mike

Mick,
Schomburgkia lyonsii X Cattleya bowringiana is called Schombocattleya Levensdale Nicole registered by Levensdale in 1966. See if you can find a picture of that cross. The AOS Awards Quarterly might have one if it has been awarded but I do not have them.
I cannot find a cross of Schomb. lyonsii with Cattleya aurantiaca or Cattleya skinneri (the other Guars!!! :-))
Keep well and kind regards
Mike

Thumbs up lyonsii x ?

I think lyonsii is very likely, I'll check the RHS for her crosses
schombcattleya Levensdale Nicole 01 photo - Artichoke Vinagrette photos at pbase.com has Levensdale Nicole. The colour is good and the shape getting there. Definitely on the right track.

Go you good thing !
