They don't like to dry out between waterings, and they like higher humidity 50-70% with a minimum night temp of 60F... so if you can provide that while mounted to a tree, I don't see why not?
I think that would look really cool. Maybe put some moss around the roots so they don't dry out.
I think this is overstated. A bit of drying out on a trip in a box is one thing (to be tolerated) but drying out while potted is another. Why do I feel like Simon Cowell?
Well this little guy really adapted to being dried out for long periods at the time, as I said, I found it in my grandma's garden and she really didn't know what an orchid was :P
