What are these? Help please! Female
Default What are these? Help please!

I bought 2 orchids from a shop near me - well to fess up, I bought 3, but I know what one is. The other 2 I know are Dendrobiums but I never had any and the care instructions I was able to find depend on the type of dendrobium so I could really use some help figuring out which types these 2 plants are. There is one pinkish with a nice light perfume and a purple one that has no perfume. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Maybe Dendrobium phalaenopsis? But, I’m really far from an expert so get a second opinion ;-)

They all look like Dendrobium phalaenopsis-type hybrids. There are many that look similar, so an exact ID is going to be impossible. As far as care is concerned, they like fairly warm tempearatures, Phalaenopsis conditions. However, they need more light than a Phal. They don't need or want a winter rest. If you are in the Cayman Islands, outside for sure, filtered sun. (If Romania, not so much...indoors in the cooler months)

Default Thank you!

Thank you very much! That’s all I need - only care about what they are so that I know how to care for them, so this is plenty! They’re on my porch in Cayman, a bit closer to the screen than the Phals so they get a bit more sun. I’ll see if they do well here. If not, I can move them to a sunnier balcony. I was afraid of the “winter rest” varieties since that would probably have meant taking them with me to the office - that ac is set on arctic . Fingers crossed, these are the first Dendrobiums I have but the Phals are happy so if they are somehat similar they should be good. And now I know what to research too
