It's probably just Oncidium NOID, but I think it's a beautiful plant and I couldn't resist it's size. I like the local greenhouse Orchid center, but almost nothing is labeled well. Any ideas on this or suggestions for care?

This would be considered mule eared, right?

No it is not a mule ear. Mule ears have thick almost plastic-like leaves. These are thin and floppy.

It is an oncidium intergeneric.
Someting like Oncostele Catatante

Oncostele Catatante Orchid Hybrid of Oncidium sphacetante × Oncidium fuscatum × Rhynchostele uroskinneri

Thank you so much, I am unfortunately only the tiniest bit responsible for it because I chose the pot and bought it with spikes ready to bloom, but I kept it happy enough for the blooms to open, so I hope it forgives me for a week of florescent lights at my wife's office!

Could be a few different intergenerics in the Oncidium tribe. Water when approaching dryness, bright light. Pretty easy, but they can be water hogs. So plan for that. Nice plant.

It does look a lot like Catatante, but you'll never know for sure.

It is nice, though!

I'm going to ask the garden center if they know. If they confirm that the Catatante is a variety that the nursery supplied them, that's still a "noid" for official purposes right?

Either way I am hoping I can ever get it to look like this again

My wife accepted working out together, making her dinner, and going to the Triangle Orchid Society member sale tonight as counting as a romantic date, so winner me! If I ever worry about show orchids I will probably start there.

She brought it to work with her today, so she is in a pretty good mood with me.

Looks just like the sun king to me. Does your Sun King have a slightly speckled look to the bottom? I don't think it showed up well the way I lit it.
