Question Orchid/Handwriting ID Please?

This orchid was given to me a few years back. I have NoID what it is, as every time I try to look it up cannot find a match. I'm sure someone here who knows much more than I about orchid names can help.

I'm usually good at deciphering handwriting, but I'm stumped. If it's helpful, DollytheHun says it looks similar to her Wilsonaria.

Thanks in advance!

Probably the tag doesn't belong to that plant.
In the hortofluriculture nomenclature, a "C." means Cattleya which is not the case.
Your plant is something belonging to the Oncidium alliance.
A close up of the flowers would be helpful, althou it might be difficult to be 100% sure.

It looks quite a lot like a plant my husband bought me at the supermarket and that I sadly underwatered to death. That one was labeled "Odcm. Catatante". Maybe whoever transcribed the label couldn't make out the complete "O" and thought it was a "C"?

I can try to hunt down a picture later.

It is frustrating. I have several unidentified or badly written tags. I just end up caring for them in the way of their family, and hope for the best. Your oncidium is lovely. Orange flowers are great!

I believe Lady O. nailed it.

Originally registered as a colmanara (probably the origin of the "C", although an improper abbreviation), later reclassified as odontocidium, it is now Oncostele Catatante

I think Lady Oscar may be onto something. Could the C. perhaps stand for Colmanara? There is a Colmanara Catatante 'Pacific Sunspots' which looks suspiciously like yours. (I understand it has been reclassified from Colmanara to Oncostele.) I could possibly see that scribbled word on the tag as being "Catatante."

I'm a bit familiar with this particular orchid only because I dearly wanted one until I realized it was going to be too big and I don't have the greatest conditions for Ondidium types.

If you Google the name, there is a Miss Orchid Girl video on YouTube that will come up that shows some closeups of the plant and flowers which may help you decide if it looks like yours.

Edited to Add: For some reason, Ray's post had not shown up on my end yet when I made my post. Sounds like a consensus!

YES! That's it. Thank you SO much. I just knew all I had to do was ask.

Been trying to search for that one for quite some time with similar guesses as to spelling. Knew it wasn't a C., but couldn't even guess well enough to get the last part.

Now officially labeled!

Interestingly enough, I have another that's always been a NoID after repotting (lost the tag). It actually looks more like the pictures than this one. (darker orange). What fun!

Well, there's the Oncostele Romance 'Oro Rojo,' which was another one I had on my wish list for a while. Here's a picture and description of the parentage. I'm certainly not saying that's what it is, since we all know there are countless hybrids out there that can look very similar, but I guess it does come under the category of "looks like."

Maria's Orchids: Oncostele Romance 'Oro Rojo'

Both the Romance 'Oro Rojo' and the Catatante 'Pacific Sunspots' were making the rounds at all of the orchid shows in my area for a couple of years recently.
