Yea, I'm pretty much in the triage stage with the plants on the property. Fortunately, a bunch of them have been doing OK (i.e. not dying) under a regime of neglect, so I left those until I figure out what make the most sense, but some others are in pretty bad shape. I took a bunch of the ones on the edge and tried a few things to see what they like; put one vanda in a rock/medium-bark mix, another couple vanda with very short roots in a makeshift glass culture, mounted a pair of oncidiums on cactus stalks, and put a whole mess of other in medium bark (I have limited access to coarse material and baskets at the moment) just because it seems better than leaving them in the clay of the yard. Will let you know how they fair.
P.S. i just noticed that one of the vandas as a spike in the front yard.

Oh, 'way cool! Eager to see what it will be! The buds look a lot like my V. tricolor that is in bud now but impossible to tell until they open.

Beautiful! Color doesn't quite match V. tricolor (the browner form...not suavis) http://orchidcentral.org/Images/Vand...20tricolor.jpg but form looks similar, so may be a primary hybrid with V. tricolor. V. tricolor is a species that is tough as nails. It grows outside year around on my patio (so experiences winter night temps that can occasionally go close to freezing though usually a little warmer) Definitely a keeper!

FWIW, I noticed a spike on a second vanda in the same group of plants, but the color looks different ... more purple in the stem and flowers. Will post when they bloom. :-)

I assume that this is another variation or hybrid of tricolor?

That looks like the V. tricolor var. suavis (or think it was separated out as a separate species, V. suavis)
Here's mine of that color form:
http://orchidcentral.org/Images/Vand...r%20suavis.jpg or
http://orchidcentral.org/Images/Vand...r%20suavis.jpg
Purple in the flower stem, more purple in the flower (less brown) and the background is more white than the other. Whether they're separate species or varieties of the same species, wonderfully robust. And can be fragrant. What a terrific "find"

It certainly has V. tricolor in its ancestry... might be a primary hybrid with something else. Lovely!

Page 2 of this thread, post number 3, that flower looks a lot like Vanda merrillii.
I'm not sure if it is the species or a hybrid of it though.
If you can get better angles of the lip, then it could be better identified.
Page 2 of this thread, post number 6, this flower looks like it could be a primary hybrid of Vanda tricolor and Vanda luzonica, I'm not 100% sure. I am very certain that it is a hybrid.
Page 2 of this thread, post number 8, looks like a hybrid. Pretty certain it is a complex hybrid. Don't recognize any species that looks exactly like this one. It is tough to guess the heritage. I do see Vanda tricolor as part of its heritage. Perhaps one of the Vandas involved in this cross is Vanda tesselata, I'm not sure. Another species that is likely involved in this cross is Vanda dearei. The yellow streak in the middle of the lip and the way the petals are reflexed are reminiscent of Vanda dearei. The labellum on all 3 species I mentioned are all trilobed.
