Miltoniopsis. Yes, heat can be an issue. Not cooling off at night even more so that daytime temps. Low humidity along with heat is particularly hard on buds, but any change in environment can contribute to bud blast, and it has been from greenhouse through shipping to T-Joe's and then your place. If you can get it to rebloom they should be more durable.

Where do you live? With shade, it might be happier outside, where it can catch the breeze and get more of a cool-down at night. PaphMadMan is correct that the bud blast you're seeing is likely the result of too many environmental changes while in bloom. The plant looks very healthy. Once it's out of bloom, it would probably benefit from repotting into small bark with perlite, in a pot that drains well. These do like to stay damp, but also want to get air around their roots, which happens when a well-drained pot is flushed with running water.

There's a big difference in culture between Miltonia and Miltoniopsis. At one time they were both in genus Miltonia. The ones like yours were called the "pansy-faced Miltonias" and the other Miltonias were called the "warm-growing Miltonias."

They were split into two genera. Miltoniopsis and hybrids are cool growing plants. Most Miltonia like warm to hot temperatures. Many people struggle to keep Miltoniopsis alive in the house.

I'm pretty sure your nights cool down a lot. Cool nights allow plants like this to tolerate warmer days than they would otherwise. I think it would be much happier outside rather than inside your house.

during summer it can or can't cool down it depends. it can be from 80 to 105 or more here sometimes for days on end. but it can be above 80 for days on end. often in the middle of summer it may only go down 10 degrees at night you never know. but I will try it outside and see.

In a pinch on a hot night, I would actually consider putting ice cubes on the medium in the pot to cool the roots.

I doubt will remember the ice. humidity in summer is low here 40% or lower. this poor guy will have to sink or swim I don't know anyone who would have what it needs and it cost less then postage to mail it to someone. it is kind of sad they have a plant that will not work for most people. they have had some nice sharry baby's and sweet sixteens there are are perfect for people.
