Welcome to the Orchid Board to you and your wife!

I don't know anything about it. Other people here on Orchid Board do grow Porroglossums. They are closely related to the genus Pleurothallis. If you search on Pleurothallis in the maroon menu at the top you might get an idea of how those grow.

You may have tried looking on the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia but it isn't there. I would look at some of the other Poroglossums there and take care of it like those plants.

This is a tiny bit about it:
Porroglossum apoloae Luer & Sijm

A company called Ecuagenera in Ecuador sells it. I looked it up in one of their old listings:
Porroglossum apoloae $30 I
This means it does best in Intermediate temperatures. People think of intermediate temperatures as the range of 55-75 F or so.

It is probably best with the highest humidity you can give it. If it starts looking unhappy, try to put it into higher humidity. This might involve putting it into a terrarium.

That is how I would approach learning about it.

You could also call the person who sold it to you and ask a lot of questions. I do that when I am buying something I'm not familiar with. The seller should expect and welcome this.

It's probably not a species that many people grow, and from what I gather, it's only recently been discovered/named.

Pretty much all the Porroglossums appreciate about the same care in captivity i.e. slight shade and high humidity with moderate temperatures and good airflow. Like most miniature epiphytes, you should use good quality pure water and feed lightly.

we got it from a seller that is in Ecuador so it may be this same person. I made sure he knew what conditions we have. it seems pretty happy and has bushed out since we got it. he had some really cool tiny orchids that did not look anything like a orchid. that needed super high humidity as in a terrarium but that was not really practical for us.

Andy's sells a number of plants in this genus. The listed care there appears the same for each species - some shade, daily waterings, and intermediate temperatures. Like others, I'd suggest keeping the humidity as high as possible.

It looks like a great plant!
