Oncidium IDs?
Default Oncidium IDs?

Hi everyone,
I just came back from an orchid show and bought 2 no id oncidiums. Any ideas of what these might be?

The tag for this one said "Red Mac", but I couldn't find anything under this name. It looks like Oncidium catatante Pacific Sun Spots but the color is much brighter and really orange, not brownish-orange.

This one had no tag, but I'm assuming it's an intergeneric with some odontoglossum. The picture doesn't really do it justice.. the color is a really bright pink, almost neon.

Thanks!

Are you sure the first one isn't Wils.? It looks a lot like my "Gay Spice Electric orange," as does the foliage.

They are definitely similar, but in the pictures of the "Gay Spice Electric Orange" I coulnd't find the darker spots on the petals that I can see on my orchid.

I think the 2nd one is Vuylstekeara Enzan Fantasy.

Oncidium Red Mac is a cross Oncidium maculatum x Oncidium noezlianum). It seems to be what you have.

2nd one looks like a Vuylstekeara which is an intergeneric hybrid between Cochlioda, Miltonia and Odontoglossum.

It's impossible to be sure. The flowers in this group of orchid are very variable from seed. Even mericlones of identical plants can have flowers that look different depending on the temperature, light and fertilizer they had while growing. Does the tag have a grower's name on it? If you contact them they might be able to tell you what they are.

I wasn't able to find any pictures of the Oncidium Red Mac online, so I wasn't sure.

No tag at all, but it's fine.. I was just curious if it was a well known variety that someone could name. The colors are amazing.
