Mystery Phals - possible ID?
Hi folks,
I have two phals that I bought when my local garden centre were selling them off because their flowers had dropped. They were in a sorry state at the time - they had cracked leaves and were very dehydrated. They seem to be picking up nicely now - one is even growing a new leaf, so I'm very happy about that.
I know that trying to ID phals is not really possible, and they haven't flowered since I bought them, so I can't provide flower pics, but there are labels stuck on their pots which say 'Candy Dots' and 'Napoli' respectively. Do these sound like they might be the hybrid type? If so, does anyone have any idea what they might look like when they bloom?
I don't mind having NOIDs, and I'm sure I'll get a lovely surprise when they eventually do flower, either way...

According to Blue Nanta, a site for researching orchid families, there is actually a Phal. Napoli registered. It's parents are Phal. Zuma Winter White and Phal. Abendrot.
No 'Candy Dots' though.

Oooh - thank you! Exciting! I shall have a rummage online and see if I can find pics of the parents.
I see what you mean about 'Candy Dots' - could be a nickname given by that particular nursery but not actually a registered type. I thought it might be a harlequin type too, as it sounds, well, dotty..

The International Orchid Register / RHS Gardening
I looked on the RHS orchid registry and Candy Dots is not a registered name.
