Is it possible to ID my Tolumnia?

It came labelled as "Oncidium", lol.

After a brief Google, it bears a remarkable resemblance to Tolumnia Genting Pink Lady. However, are these like Phals in that there are a myriad of similar looking hybrids?

Any tips on care would be much appreciated, too!

I'd say it's not a Genting Pink Lady, just because I have one that I abuse the crap out of. Whenever it blooms, most of the petals have spotted lips. The Genting Pink Lady and Pink Panther are both like that.

Whichever one it is,it's a beauty. You'll probably never have an exact ID... Like Phals, lots of hybrids are similar, especially when one factors in the plant-to-plant variation in any cross. I don't have a lot, but for the ones I have, I have found that they hate pots. Really need to dry out between waterings. So either mount, or basket with little or no media (depending on the configuration of the plant) Warm/intermediate temperatures.

Your Tolumnia is a nice size, whichever one it is. I have two that I've had for maybe 6 months and haven't killed yet. I have a jairak flyer "fantastic " and a red barry. I plan to mount them eventually but they are still in their net pots from Hausermann's. I keep them in a south window above my kitchen sink. They have grown well but not bloomed for me. Both have bloomed in the past. Mine are smaller plants than yours. Maybe mounting would give them the nudge they need to flower.

I also have a sylvestris "El Gato" AM/SFOS I've had for two years, it's growing on a wine cork in another kitchen window. Tiny little thing, not bloomed yet! I understand they are reluctant to bloom but I keep hoping it will one day.

I water them all daily and mist as well. The sylvertris is misted several times a day and grows quickly. It has roots going everywhere. I really really want it to bloom. Your blooms are very pretty.

Toluminia hybrids are notorious for being extremely variable within a cross, every color and pattern possible in seedlings from the same pod. This also makes them virtually indistinguishable between crosses. If different plants of one hybrid look nothing alike, how can you say something similar must be the same cross? And for what it is worth, Genting Pink Lady usually has a fuller skirt than this. Whatever it is though, you clearly grow it very well.

Hahaha, the cultivator I just bought it from has grown it excellently - let's see how it looks in a year! :LMAO:

Even the same plant can have different flowers at different temperatures.

Yes, they need to dry out, but I think a lot of people have trouble with them because they also need to get very wet at least once a day. Where they come from there would be dew every night. It would be fine to water them again as soon as they dry out, even if that would be 20+ times per day.

They also need very strong sun to bloom. Vanda or better.

Never admit such a thing! You had the good sense to buy it. That is just as good. And if it dies in the next year, then the grower sold you a sick plant.
