Rescue noID help please
Default Rescue noID help please

Another rescue I purchased couple of months ago. No leaves, no roots, just pseudobulbs. I potted it and it looks like there is success! 2 new growths. However the bulbs do not look like on any of the orchids I own. I have no clue what could this be. All I know is that it does not like too much sun (sun burn? on the bulb after few days on eastern window).

Any suggestions please?
Thanks you for your help.

Kate

I could have sworn you had a photo in this message a day or so ago - ? It looked like very narrow, elongated, dull green pseudobulbs with a single prominent leaf scar halfway up each bulb, and a noticeable groove running up the length of each bulb. One of the pseudobulbs had a large brown area that could have been a fresh sunburn spot, or could have been an area of rot. I didn't reply because I had no idea of what it is. Or am I mistaken?

If it is as I described, I suspect it might be something like Gongora or Zygopetalum. The longitudinal groove will give it away to somebody who sees it and knows it.

Yes I did have pics. They somehow disappeared. Thank you for your replies. I did some research over the weekend and the closest bulb shape I could find is on the Encyclia (or Prosthechea?) Prismatocarpa.

It does have that look, but without leaves, hard to tell. The good news is that whatever it is, you have two new growths showing in the photo. Once those develop, it will help to narrow things down.

Looks a bit like Coelogyne to me. Hard to tell without the leaves though.
