Oncidium species id?
Default Oncidium species id?

Hi everyone,
I got this oncidium as a division from a friend and planted it a couple of months ago. We had an unusually cold winter here where I live in Brazil (for our standards) and it didn't do much for quite some time, but now it finally flowered.

I don't know if you can tell by the picture, but the flowers are tiny. I'd say less than 2 cm across. The plant itself is compact either.

This one is really common around here, so I'm guessing it could be a species, but I couldn't find anything conclusive. My best guess so far is Oncidium flexuosum.

Any ideas?

Here is a look at the plant itself. Please don't mind the cords, I'm using them to attach a phalaenopsis to the tree.

And here are the flowers. It's not much but in a few years they'll be producing hundreds of blooms, literally.

There are some similar species but Oncidium flexuosum seems to be the best match. Your flowers may be slightly smaller than typically described, but real world variation will almost always exceed written descriptions especially in such a widespread species.

I just wanted to thanks for the reply and post an update. I talked to a guy at a local orchid nursery and he confirmed this is in fact Oncidium flexuosum.

After 6 weeks with flowers mine are finally done blooming and are already growing new pseudobulbs and tons of roots.
