Thanks for the welcome Des. I am new to the OB and do not know (yet) how to jump from one thread to the next so I am posting here. You have the wind to contend with in PE which nocks over pots and you lose labels. Here in PMB it is the Vervet monkeys (blou bal aapies) which get into my greenhouse and cause havock. They eat the buds off the plants, chew a bit out of the pseudobulbs and pull plants and labels out of pots and throw them around. What I suggest that you do to prevent labels and plants being separated is to get some of that thin platic coated copper wire that they use for telephone cables and form a noose at one end and then place the wire through under the rhizome of sympodial orchids such as Cymbidiums and Cattleys and then form a lasso around the rhizome with a long end pointing upwards. Then take a plastic label and with a sharp knife point "drill" a hole through the label on which you have written the name (preferably in pencil so it takes longer to fade) and thread the long end of the lasso through the hole and twist so that it stays put. The label should then be above the potting medium and it should stay affixed to the plant.
Regards to Stan Wedge.
Keep well and kind regards
Mike
